Last day to work on Client #2 Website.
By the end of the hour, students will submit their Client #2 Website into Dropbox. They will hand in their rubric along with their peer review sheet.
Tuesday 4-8-14
Client Website #3 Project
I recently received an email from a teacher friend who travels the country giving presentations to elementary school teachers about math. He is looking for a redesign of his already existing website. All the the pictures and content are already on his original site.
Using your template that you used for your previous two websites, put your own touch on this website and make it your own. He wants the information to stay the same, but for the layout to be different.
There are 5 pages total to this website:

Workshop & In-Service

You can leave these as they are or add more if you think it will enhance the site. A rough draft will be due on Friday in Dropbox.

Week 9
During this week we will continue to work on the client website introduced in Week 8.
Thursday 3-27-14
Today, students will do a peer review of other websites. Students who are doing the same topics (Salon, Comics, Cars) will move around the room and view/critique other classmates’ sites. This will generate ideas, give constructive criticism, and show what others are doing. They will then list 2 things they liked and 2 things that could be improved. A sheet will be left next to each person’s computer for others to fill in. These are still a work in progress, and we know there is still much work to be done.

Hi,
So hopefully I'll be able to pull this stuff together quickly enough for you and your students...this is so good for me! We really have been needing to do the site...our riders will be so excited.
Here are the two logos I would like for you to incorporate onto our site. Thank you Courtney!
Logo 1
Logo 2
I am thinking that the color will be some kind of green.
I'm setting up Dropbox now and will get some pictures together as well.
Here is a list of the pages that we will need for the site...I will create some text/content for each page based on this outline

Difference between Lessons and Training
Use the internet and google some of the other horse riding farms and come up with comparable prices for some of the activities/sales she is looking for. Have fun with this, but also do some research as well.
Note a couple things:
- She is asking for a lot more pages (does this change where you'll have your navigation text?).
- She specifies a particular color scheme.
- Think about adding a Google Calendar so she can self-update. How to Embed a Google Calendar
- Don't worry if you don't know what most of this stuff means (you can always Google it..). Some of this information is new to me as well. Just ask and we'll get it figured out.

Week 3
Let's check out our inspiring web designers and websites that our class posted on the blog. Review 5 different posts and THOUGHTFULLY comment on what you liked about the websites or their choices in web designers. It's important to note: Only discuss positives on the blog - remember that everyone has their own identity and opinion and even though you might not like a lot of what someone else put, if they have a good explanation it's important to read it and understand where they're coming from (and try to see the beauty that they do).
Then... Our first client!

Week 2
Continue researching three web designers who inspire you. If you can't find specific designers, research companies who have created some of the amazing websites out there. For example, whoever created THIS WEBSITE inspires me. I'm sure it will inspire you too. Also, THIS WEBSITE is seriously the coolest.wedding.invitation.ever. The couple created it themselves. It's worth it just to read through to see all the spectacular ideas they incorporated (it will take you some time - take the time! BE INSPIRED). They used HTML5 & CSS.
If you need assistance searching for designers let me know - I'm always happy to help!

Week 1
Introduction
Review the syllabus here!
Then, this week let's: Review the Web Design I projects. We'll check out the good, bad and ugly :)
We will critique some of the projects and take a look at what we can improve. More importantly, we will check out HOW to improve the code behind the design to make it look more appealing.
Comparative Study
Check out the website examples of your classmates. Everyone pull up your personal websites and move around the room looking at others' sites. Using two examples of your choosing, compare them to your own final project website. What do you like about your own website and not about theirs? What areas are better on their websites than on yours? Include three areas that you critique: Structure & Navigation, Visual Design, Functionality, Interactivity and Overall Experience. Make sure you discuss color scheme - that seemed to be a problem with a lot of final projects :)
Would you nominate your website for the Webby Awards? Or for Webpages that Suck? Why?
Download Chrome here.
